Cancer Jul 28, 2019
Virostko J, et al. - Researchers conducted a retrospective study using National Cancer Data Base data from 2004 to 2015 to determine changes in the proportion of cases diagnosed at an age younger than 50 years, utilizing the Cochran-Armitage test for trend. Diagnosis at an age younger than 50 years was made among 130,165 patients, and diagnosis at the age of 50 years or older was made among 1,055,598 patients. The analysis revealed a continuous increase in the proportion of persons who received diagnoses of CRC at an age younger than 50 years in the United States over the past decade, as well as the presentation of more advanced disease among younger adults. The investigators recommend considering these data in the ongoing discussion of screening guidelines.
