Reattachment of fractured teeth using a multimode adhesive: Effect of different rewetting solutions and immersion time
Dental Traumatology Sep 13, 2019
Maia GB, Pereira RV, do Nascimento Poubel DL, et al. - In the present study, researchers assessed the impacts of various immersion times on multimode adhesive bonding between reattached fragments and teeth in different storage media. This investigation was carried out on 195 bovine mandibular incisors chosen to standardize the specimens according to the dimensions of the crown. Fracture resistance under compressive load (1 mm/min) was assessed in a universal testing machine. The information was presented to the two-way variance analysis and the post hoc Tukey test. After fragment bonding, the solution used to hydrate the fragment, as well as the time of immersion, did not interfere with fracture strength. Using a multimodal adhesive system associated with a flowable resin composite, a 1 hour hydration time in any media was sufficient to ensure similar bond strength values of the fragment to the remaining tooth structure compared with 24 hours hydration, strengthening the significance of hydration for the viability and success of the technique. No important interaction has been noted between the rewetting solutions.
