Rate of the “burnt-out diabetes” phenomenon in patients on peritoneal dialysis

Abe M, et al. - In patients on peritoneal dialysis (PD), researchers determined the rate of the “burnt-out diabetes” phenomenon via performing study including diabetes patients on PD, with HbA1c level and antidiabetes therapy records. For this investigation, they involved 1,296 subjects in the HbA1c cohort. It was observed that the “burnt-out diabetes” phenomenon was present in 17.7% of patients with diabetes on PD based on HbA1c. The findings revealed that the rate was significantly reduced to 10.9% when taking glycated albumin (GA) into account.
