Rapid response team patients triaged to remain on ward despite deranged vital signs: Missed opportunities?

Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica Sep 26, 2017

Tirkkonen J, et al. - Rapid response teams (RRTs) triage most patients to stay on ward, even though some of them have deranged vital signs according to RRTs themselves. This study investigated the prevalence and outcome of this RRT patient cohort. Findings indicated that routine follow-up of patients triaged to stay on ward despite deranged vital signs by RRT nurses before deterioration beyond salvation could be a beneficial step for this high-risk patient population.
