Randomized study of IV prochlorperazine plus diphenhydramine vs IV hydromorphone for migraine

Neurology® Oct 24, 2017

Friedman BW, et al. - This study was formulated in order to identify the outcomes among patients presenting with migraine in the emergency department (ED) who received IV hydromorphone vs IV prochlorperazine + diphenhydramine. It was discovered that IV hydromorphone was considerably less effective than IV prochlorperazine for the treatment of acute migraine in the ED. Hence, its use was not recommended as a first-line therapy.
