Randomized controlled trial of the systemchange intervention on behaviors related to cardiovascular risk in HIV+ adults

Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes Apr 23, 2018

Webel AR, et al. - Researchers wanted to see if a lifestyle behavior intervention (SystemCHANGE) could impact physical activity and diet quality in sedentary people living with HIV (PLHIV). Time spent in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity was the primary activity outcome and Healthy Eating Index was the primary dietary outcome. The SystemCHANGE intervention was credited with reducing daily carbohydrate intake (mostly sugar-sweetened beverages) and body weight, but not increasing physical activity or improving overall diet quality in this population.
