Randomised controlled trial of escitalopram for cervical dystonia with dystonic jerks/tremor

Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery & Psychiatry Jan 17, 2018

Zoons E, et al. - The intent of the authors was to inspect the impact of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) escitalopram on the dystonic jerks/tremor in patients with cervical dystonia (CD). In terms of the motor or psychiatric symptoms, escitalopram did not confer any additional effects for the treatment of CD with jerks. Findings did not recommend withholding patients' treatment with SSRIs for depression and anxiety, which were often noted in dystonia.
