Radiomics and functional imaging in lung cancer: The importance of radiological heterogeneity beyond FDG PET/CT and Lung Biopsy

European Journal of Radiology Aug 01, 2021

Caruso D, Zerunian M, Daffina J, et al. - This study was carried out to assess CT Texture Analysis (CTTA) ability in differentiating malignant from benign nodules. Researchers retrospectively enrolled patients that had undergone FDG PET/CT followed by CT-guided lung biopsy between January 2013 and December 2018. They tested CTTA accuracy with the Receiver Operating Characteristics curve. In this study, 46 patients encountered inclusion criteria from an initial population of 1,178. CTTA was found to be a promising radiological tool to define benign and malignant lung nodules, even in those cases without an altered glucose metabolism.
