European Journal of Radiology Jan 22, 2018

Obert M, et al. - The intention of the authors was to evaluate a new image marker which retrieved the information from computed tomography (CT) density histograms, in terms of the classification properties between different lung parenchyma groups. Additionally, they comparatively analyzed the new image marker with the conventional ones. Histogram’s Functional Shape (HFS) method currently applicable for CT bone density curve analysis, served as a promising information extraction tool for lung density histograms. Valuable health-related information also from histograms could be extracted by the HFS method from completely different areas, presenting as a principle mathematical approach.
