Busch C, et al. - Researchers localized and quantified ischemic changes induced by proton beam irradiation of central choroidal melanoma. They also identified the baseline predictors associated with the extent of ischemic changes. Findings suggested that the tumor area is distinctly exceeded by ischemic changes and, in the majority of patients, these are found also outside of the irradiation field. Data demonstrated a positive association between the size of irradiation area and tumor prominence with the extent of the ischemic area.
