Proton pump inhibitor use is associated with a reduced risk of infection with intestinal protozoa

Sheele JM - An analysis was performed to ascertain if proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) use was correlated with a reduced risk of having intestinal parasites. Compared with those not taking a PPI, patients taking a PPI were statistically less prone to have intestinal protozoa reported on stool ova and parasite (O & P) examination.
