Propofol for treatment of acute migraine in the emergency department: A systematic review
Academic Emergency Medicine Dec 11, 2019
Piatka C, et al. - Researchers assessed the existing literature on the safety and efficacy of propofol for acute migraine treatment in the emergency department (ED). In this systematic review, they examined nine studies, including five case reports or series, one retrospective cohort study, and three randomized controlled trials, consisting of 290 patients, using Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis guidelines. Outcomes suggest a possible efficacy of propofol as rescue therapy for patients presenting to the ED for acute migraine. However, the limited available evidence did not clarify its place in therapy.
