Progression of undiagnosed cutaneous lymphoma after anti-tumor necrosis factor alpha therapy

Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Jan 10, 2018

Martinez-Escala ME, et al. - Experts designed this research in order to examine cutaneous lymphoma (CL), diagnosed during or after the use of anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF)α therapies. The occurrence of misdiagnosis as psoriasis or eczema was noted in a majority of the identified patients. Hence, in patients with poorly defined dermatitis or atypical presentations of “psoriasis”, a comprehensive morphological and molecular review of skin biopsies and peripheral blood ought to be taken into account before the initiation of anti-TNFα therapy.
