Prognostic value of lipoprotein (a) level in patients with coronary artery disease: A meta-analysis
Lipids in Health and Disease Jul 13, 2019
Zhimiao Wang, et al. - Through a meta-analysis of 17 studies representing 283,328 patients, researchers assessed the prognostic value of elevated lipoprotein (a) level in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). The prognostic value of elevated lipoprotein (a) level for cardiac events, cardiovascular events, cardiovascular death, and all-cause mortality in CAD patients were included. Elevated lipoprotein (a) level was independently affiliated with an elevated risk of cardiac events and cardiovascular events in CAD patients. However, elevated lipoprotein (a) levels had no significant correlation with elevated cardiovascular mortality and all-cause mortality risk. Hence, in CAD subjects, elevated lipoprotein (a) level was an independent predictor of cardiac and cardiovascular events. Among patients with CAD, the measurement of lipoprotein (a) level had the ability to enhance risk stratification.
