Prognostic factors for relapse and survival among patients with ocular adnexal lymphoma: validation of the eighth edition of the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) TNM classification
British Journal of Ophthalmology Apr 28, 2020
Kwon M, Lee JS, Lee C, et al. - Researchers conducted a retrospective review to validate the prognostic performance of the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) eighth edition classification for ocular adnexal lymphoma (OAL). The sample consisted of 140 consecutive patients [79 women and 61 men (median age, 52 (range 20–84) years; median follow-up, 57 (range 7–131) months)] treated for primary OAL between March 2010 and September 2017. Connections between T/N/M categories at presentation and disease-related outcomes, including relapse, progression-free survival and overall survival have been assessed. According to findings, histological subtypes involved mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, follicular lymphoma and mantle cell lymphoma. Among individuals with primary OAL, the T, N and M categories of the AJCC eighth edition classification have prognostic value for relapse and survival. In particular, nodal/metastatic involvement at presentation showed less favourable outcome.
