Primary thromboprophylaxis in individuals without cancer admitted to a geriatric palliative care unit

Gurau AJ, et al. - In this present study, the physicians compared primary venous thromboembolism (VTE) prophylaxis in elderly adults with advanced noncancer diagnoses with that of those with advanced cancer on a dedicated geriatric palliative care unit (PCU). They found similar VTE prophylaxis rates in participants with and without cancer on a geriatric PCU. For nonambulatory participants, the rate was not significantly less.
