Primary sclerosing cholangitis is protective against non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in inflammatory bowel disease

Bosch DE, et al. - This study examined the role of primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) on the non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The findings exhibited that despite similar prevalence of major NAFLD risk factors, patients with co-morbid inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and PSC reported considerably less susceptibility to NAFLD than those with IBD alone.
