Journal of Clinical Periodontology Nov 17, 2017
Ziukaite L, et al. - The clinicians performed this systematic review to assess the prevalence of diabetes mellitus in people clinically diagnosed with periodontitis. Compared to people without periodontitis, the overall prevalence and odds of having diabetes were higher within periodontitis populations. Studies conducted in Asia had highest diabetes prevalence among subjects with periodontitis. The lowest prevalence was noted in studies originating from Europe.
