Prevalence and factors associated with disturbed sleep in outpatients with ankylosing spondylitis

Nie A, et al. - Authors gauged the sleep disturbance and its associated factors in ankylosing spondylitis (AS) outpatients in Southwest China. In AS patients in Southwest China, sleep disturbance was found to be common. Authors suggested regular exercise, strong management of pain, relieving anxiety, and preventing or treating extra-spinal manifestation could improve sleep quality. Poorer sleep quality was seen in married patients, patients with extra-spinal manifestation, depression and anxiety, longer duration of diagnostic delay, higher disease activity, worse functional status and global well-being, high level of pain, and fatigue.
