Prevalence and clinical features of adverse food reactions in Portuguese children

Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology Sep 09, 2017

Jorge A, et al. – The current study was interested in exploring the prevalence of IgE-associated food allergy in children selected from the general population of Central Portugal. The findings demonstrated that the prevalence of probable food allergy in 3–11 year old Portuguese children from central Portugal was low and parents over-report its frequency. Fresh fruit and fish were the most frequently implicated foods. The outcomes suggested that immediate type, polysymptomatic, and more severe reactions could commence at an earlier age and be more frequent in IgE-associated than in non-IgE associated reactions.
