Prevalence and associated factors of urinary leakage among women participating in the 45 and Up Study

Neurourology and Urodynamics Aug 03, 2018

Concepcion K, et al. - Researchers gauged the prevalence of urinary leakage and its correlated factors among a sample of females aged 45 years and over in New South Wales. Urinary leakage was most likely to be experienced by approximately 1 in 2 women aged 45 years and older. For urinary leakage, the associated factors could serve as screening indicators. Results demonstrated a correlation of increasing age, abnormal BMI, back pain, anxiety, depression, and psychological distress with greater odds of women reporting urinary leakage. They noted an association between Asian ancestry and being unemployed with a lower risk for urinary incontinence.
