Prevalence and associated factors of suboptimal daily peak inspiratory flow and technique misuse of dry powder inhalers in outpatients with stable chronic airway diseases
International Journal of COPD Jun 26, 2021
Ding N, Zhang W, Wang Z, et al. - This study was undertaken to explore the prevalence and associated factors of suboptimal daily peak inspiratory flow (PIF) and technical misuse of three commonly used dry powder inhalers (DPIs) in outpatients with stable chronic airway diseases. Between December 2018 and September 2019, researchers enrolled 85 outpatients with stable asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or asthma-COPD Overlap and had previously used any of Turbuhaler, Diskus, HandiHaler. It has been reported that the standardization of the use of DPIs by patients in our center was still unoptimistic even if patients have received training at the time of initial prescription. It was shown that age and combined respiratory diseases were correlated with suboptimal PIF. The incidence of technique misuse was decreased by higher education levels.
