Preserved insulin secretion and kidney function in recipients with functional pancreas grafts one year after transplantation

European Journal of Endocrinology Aug 05, 2018

Nordheim E, et al. - Among 67 patients with functioning grafts (simultaneous pancreas and kidney transplantation [SPK] n=30; pancreas transplantation alone [PTA] n=37) transplanted between September 2011 and November 2016, researchers examined glucometabolic parameters and kidney function during the first year. Oral glucose tolerance tests and measurement of glomerular filtration rate by serum clearance methods were performed at 8 and 52 weeks after transplantation. As per outcomes, recipients with functioning SPK and PTA grafts show preservation of glycemic control and kidney function one year after transplantation.
