BMC Nephrology Mar 25, 2021

Oto OA, Ozturk S, Turgutalp K, et al. - This multicenter, retrospective study was conducted to determine demographic features, clinical presentation, as well as outcomes of a multicenter cohort of adult renal transplant recipients with coronavirus 2019 disease (COVID-19). This analysis involved 109 patients (male/female: 63/46, mean age: 48.4 ± 12.4 years). In 46 (42.2%) patients, acute kidney injury occurred, and renal replacement therapy was needed in 4 (3.7%) of the patients. ICU admissions were 22 (20.2%), and invasive mechanical ventilation was needed in 19 (17.4%) patients. Deaths of 14 (12.8%) of the patients occurred. The identified independent risk factors for severe COVID-19 in this patient population were: over the age of 60, ischemic heart disease, lymphopenia, poor graft function. Whereas findings revealed an independent association of presence of ischemic heart disease as well as of poor graft function with mortality.
