Predicting response after infliximab salvage in acute severe ulcerative colitis

Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Jan 07, 2018

Choy MC, et al. - A retrospective analysis was designed to identify factors that predict colectomy and could guide dose intensification. Following infliximab salvage, the baseline Mayo Endoscopic Score and the CRP/Albumin ratio were significant predictors of treatment response for acute severe ulcerative colitis (ASUC) and identified patients at high risk of colectomy. In order to determine the possibility of mitigating this risk using infliximab dose intensification, prospective evaluation was required before the CRP/Albumin ratio could be integrated into ASUC management algorithms.
