Predicting discharge disposition after shoulder arthroplasty in the United States
Journal of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Apr 29, 2019
Sivasundaram L, et al. - To generate a nomogram to predict preoperatively a patient's discharge disposition following elective shoulder arthroplasty, investigators identified 8363 procedures. They used a multivariable logistic regression model for the recognization of risk factors for discharge to a post-acute care facility. They noted that 962 subjects were discharged to a post-acute care facility whereas 7492 were discharged home. After shoulder arthroplasty, they found that preoperative functional status (followed by the American Society of Anesthesiologists Class and age) had the strongest predictive value for discharge disposition.
