Post-discharge outcomes of pyogenic liver abscesses: Single-center experience 2007–2012

Gallagher MC, et al. – Authors aimed at describing post–discharge services and factors predicting poor outcomes of Pyogenic liver abscesses (PLA). They realized intense post–discharge needs (drain management, IV antibiotics) and a high rate of emergency department (ED) visits and readmissions among PLA patients. While percutaneous drainage (PD) provided source control without surgery, ambulatory needs were now more complex, requiring multidisciplinary collaboration.
