Population-based study suggests an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease in Sjögren’s syndrome

Liliang PC, et al. - This population-based retrospective study, including a 10-year follow-up, reports the risk of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) among patients with vs without primary Sjögren’s syndrome (SS). As per 10-year observations, a 2.69-fold increased risk of developing AD was reported in patients with primary SS. Researchers observed that with time, this risk increased, and the relative risk of AD was higher in older patients with primary SS.
