Population-based cohort study suggesting a significantly increased risk of developing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Hsu IL, et al. - The experts embraced this study to explore whether type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) increased the risk of developing the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). A modest association of T2DM with the risk of developing COPD was observed in this study. Thus, findings could shed light on the adverse effects of hyperglycemia on pulmonary function.
