Population-based analysis of temporal trends in the prevalence of depressed mood among sexual minority and heterosexual youths from 1999 through 2017

JAMA Oct 29, 2019

Bettis AH, et al. - Researchers performed the first population-representative analysis of temporal trends in depressed mood among sexual minority and heterosexual youths. They examined 18-year period identifying the high prevalence of depression in adolescence and its association with negative long-term outcomes. Temporal trends may help to assess development in addressing the need to eliminate health disparities among sexual minority populations. Sexual minority youths remain a particularly at-risk group despite decades of research on treatment for adolescent depression.
