Plasma volume and renal function predict six-month survival after hospitalization for acute decompensated heart failure
Cardiorenal Medicine Nov 06, 2017
Bilchick KC, et al. - This study was designed to assess the post-discharge survival impacts of increased percentage change in plasma volume (%ΔPV), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and %ΔPV stratified by BUN and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in patients hospitalized for acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF). Findings demonstrated that increased %ΔPV and BUN at discharge were predictive of worse 6-month survival in this patient population. Notably, decreased %ΔPV with low BUN or high GFR at discharge was related to improved survival.
