Physiotherapy breathing retraining for asthma: A randomised controlled trial

The Lancet Respiratory Medicine Jan 05, 2018

Bruton A, et al. - This study was designed to determine the effectiveness of a digital self-guided breathing retraining intervention in asthmatics. Findings revealed that patients with incompletely controlled asthma were benefitted, in terms of improved quality of life, with the implementation of breathing retraining programmes, however, these programmes had little impact on lung function or airway inflammation. Furthermore, given to the convenient delivery as well as cost-efficacy of such programmes as a self-guided digital audiovisual programme, it appeared that these might also reduce health-care costs.
