Perceptions of dietary factors promoting and preventing nephrolithiasis: A cross-sectional survey

Fakhoury MQ, et al. - Authors evaluated the knowledge of both promoting and preventive dietary factors on nephrolithiasis in a diverse patient population. Among this population, there is limited knowledge of diet-related risk factors for nephrolithiasis. The knowledge of dietary risk for nephrolithiasis is maintaned by the respondents who received prior education. If that information is provided, a willingness was also expressed by the participants to make requisite dietary changes. In view of the fact that most stone formers experience a recurrence, the need for more comprehensive patient education strategies on the modifiable risk factors for nephrolithiasis is highlighted in the findings.
