Patient satisfaction and Press Ganey scores for spine vs nonspine neurosurgery clinics
Journal of Spinal Disorders & Techniques May 05, 2019
Chen YR, et al. - In this retrospective Press Ganey survey review, researchers, for the first time, assessed satisfaction scores in patients seen in neurosurgical spine compared to neurosurgical nonspine clinics. A total of 40 questions from the Press Ganey survey were examined and grouped into categories dealing with physician and nursing care, personal concerns, admission, room, meal, operating room, conditions of treatment and discharge, visitor accommodation and overall clinical evaluation. According to results, patients of the spine clinic reported lower satisfaction scores in aggregate, physician and nurse care, personal concerns, room, admission and visitor conditions, and overall clinic assessment. In all significant questions on the Press Ganey survey, the spine clinic cohort reported less satisfaction than the nonspine cohort. The findings suggest that efforts should be made in spine clinics to further study and enhance patient satisfaction.
