Paravertebral block in paediatric abdominal surgery: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized trials

Page EA, et al. – This study suggests that induction of paravertebral block (PVB) in paediatric abdominal surgery patients brings about minimal improvement in pain scores for up to 24 h after surgery and reduction in rescue analgesia requirements. It increases surgeon and parental satisfaction as well. Overall, PVB has been viewed as a good alternative option in this patient population in place of caudal and ilioinguinal block.
