Pain catastrophizing and function in individuals with chronic musculoskeletal pain: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Martinez-Calderon J, et al. - Investigators studied PubMed, Scopus, AMED, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and PubPsych databases, as well as gray literature to examine the concurrent and longitudinal relationships between pain catastrophizing (PC) and both pain intensity and disability among people with chronic musculoskeletal pain (CMP). They observed that higher levels of PC were significantly associated with both chronic pain intensity and disability. A higher PC level also predicted both chronic pain intensity and disability.
