Overall survival in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma and clinical N1 disease undergoing cytoreductive nephrectomy and lymph node dissection

Faiena I, et al. - In this study the survival of patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) and cN1 disease who underwent cytoreductive nephrectomy (CN) with and without lymph node dissection (LND) was determined. There was no survival benefit among patients with mRCC and cN1 disease undergoing LND when compared with patients undergoing CN; however, when adjusting for the number of positive lymph nodes, lymph node yield indicated an increase in survival.
