Outcomes with complete vs incomplete revascularization in patients with multivessel coronary disease undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention with everolimus eluting stents
The American Journal of Cardiology Nov 07, 2019
Bangalore S, et al. - Among patients with multivessel disease (MVD) who received PCI using everolimus eluting stent (EES), researchers assessed the outcomes with completeness of revascularization (CR). They selected patients with MVD who had PCI using EES in New York State. Grouping of patients into CR, attempted but failed CR or incomplete revascularization (ICR), was done. Death/ myocardial infarction (MI) was assessed as the primary outcome and death/ MI/ repeat revascularization as well as the individual components of the composite outcomes were evaluated as secondary outcomes. This study included 15,046 patients. Among these, 4545 (30%) had CR. A significantly higher risk of cardiovascular events including death was observed in relation to ICR vs CR in patients with MVD undergoing PCI with EES.
