Outcomes of cataract surgery in patients with exudative age-related macular degeneration and macular fluid
American Journal of Ophthalmology Jun 01, 2018
Starr MR, et al. - Authors gauged if having macular fluid on the OCT prior to cataract surgery adversely affected vision or anatomic outcomes following cataract surgery in patients with exudative age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Findings suggested that in a real-world setting, safe cataract surgery could be conducted in patients with both cataracts and wet AMD. For cataract surgery, experts should consider the patients with stable pre-operative fluid on OCT as these patients did well post-operatively with no worsening of their neovascular process.
