Harslof S, et al. - The researchers examined the outcome after robot-assisted rectal cancer surgery (RARCS), particularly focusing on conversion rate, postoperative complications, pathological evaluation (adequacy of resection margins), and bowel function (low anterior resection syndrome [LARS]) 1 year after surgery. At a single high-volume university center, the outcomes after RARCS were overall comparable to outcomes reported from laparoscopic surgery. Because results were achieved during implementation of RARCS, they were satisfying.
