Outcome in lacunar stroke: A cohort study
Acta Neurologica Scandinavica May 21, 2018
Mantero V, et al. - Experts assessed the outcome at the time of discharge and 6 months after lacunar stroke and the association with cardiovascular risk factors and selected biochemical parameters already appraised on admission. They enrolled 150 patients with a lacunar stroke in this study. They classified infarcts by size, shape and location. Findings revealed that the most important factors impacting functional outcome after lacunar stroke were control of inflammatory markers and fever, as well as prompt recognition and early treatment of infection, this even though infections were not causatively linked with lacunar strokes.
