Optimal reperfusion strategy in patients with acute STEMI and multivessel disease: An updated meta-analysis
Herz Jul 03, 2018
Fan G, et al. - Researchers compared culprit-only revascularization (COR) vs complete revascularization (CR) in patients with acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and multivessel disease, focusing on the efficacy and safety of both treatment strategies to determine the optimal reperfusion strategy. For this purpose, they analyzed multicenter randomized controlled trials and carried out a meta-analysis using Review Manager 5.3 software. Evidence from 8 trials involving 2,870 patients was used, of whom 1,604 underwent COR and 1,266 underwent CR. Based on the evidence, CR was proved to be an efficacious and safe reperfusion strategy in patients with acute STEMI and multivessel disease since it significantly lessened the incidence of MACE vs COR with comparable safety.
