Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug induces luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome in young female juvenile idiopathic arthritis patients
Clinical Rheumatology Sep 16, 2018
Tomioka RB, et al. - In juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) patients, with and without non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and healthy controls, researchers evaluated prospectively luteinized unruptured follicle (LUF) syndrome. For this investigation, 23 adolescent and young adult female JIA patients (ILAR criteria) and 11 healthy female subjects were analyzed via pelvic ultrasound monitoring for follicular development and ovulation in one menstrual cycle. Researchers, for the first time, identified that LUF was found more frequently in JIA patients without impaired ovarian reserve.
