No difference between full thickness and partial thickness quadriceps tendon autografts in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction: A systematic review
Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy Jul 11, 2018
Kanakamedala AC, et al. - In this review, researchers analyzed data from studies comparing outcomes and complication profiles of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACL-R) between full thickness (FT-Q) and partial thickness (PT-Q) quadriceps tendon (QT) autografts. This review included a total of 20 studies, the findings from which demonstrated no difference in outcomes or complications between either FT-Q or PT-Q in primary ACL-R. They also found that regardless of tendon thickness, successful outcomes with a low rate of graft failure were provided by QT autografts in primary ACL-R. These data demonstrated the efficacy of either FT-Q or PT-Q in primary ACL-R and may justify the use of either graft thickness by surgeons in the clinical setting.
