Nationwide introduction of minimally invasive robotic surgery for early-stage endometrial cancer and its association with severe complications
JAMA Jun 24, 2019
Jørgensen SL, et al. - Via a Danish nationwide cohort of 5,654 women with early-stage endometrial cancer, researchers intended to assess the impact of the Danish nationwide introduction of minimally invasive robotic surgery (MIRS) on severe complications. For early-stage endometrial cancer, the national introduction of MIRS altered the surgical procedure from open surgery to minimally invasive surgery. A significantly reduced risk of severe complications was observed in relation to this change. While only a minority of women with early-stage endometrial cancer undergo MILS, it reduces surgical morbidity vs a total abdominal hysterectomy.
