Fulgham PF - Herein, the author assessed the efficacy of multiparametric ultrasound-targeted biopsies in individuals undergoing initial biopsy of the prostate for the suspicion of prostate cancer. With regard to positive biopsy rate and the detection of disease of low-malignant potential, multiparametric ultrasound-targeted biopsy compared favorably to the published performance of multiparametric MRI-transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) fusion-targeted biopsy on initial biopsy for prostate cancer.
