Monocenter study on epidemiology, outcomes and risk factors of infections in recipients of 166 allogeneic stem cell transplantations during one year

European Journal of Haematology Apr 06, 2020

Samek M, Iversen K, Belmar‐Campos C, et al. - Researchers conducted a monocentric prospective analysis to evaluate epidemiology, risk factors, and outcomes of infections during the peri‐transplant period. They applied a predefined questionnaire to record data prospectively. A total of 163 consecutive patients were recruited in this study 37.4% female, median age 59 (range 18‐79) years who received allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in 2015. There are limited outcomes of an elaborate diagnostic workup of infections in the peri‐transplant period. The results demonstrate that attention to risk factors might support to distinguish individuals at risk for severe infections.
