Nomura R, et al. - Experts further refined their novel PCR system for H. pylori detection, which was much more sensitive than the previous single PCR method. They also examined the distribution and virulence of H. pylori in inflamed pulp tissue. Authors constructed nested PCR system using primer sets designed from the complete genome information of 48 H. pylori strains. Findings suggested that in approximately 40% of all cases H. pylori colonizes inflamed pulp through adhesion to human dental fibroblast cells. Rather than the permanent teeth, H. pylori was shown to be predominantly detected in primary teeth.
