Mode of conception does not affect fetal or placental growth parameters or ratios in early gestation or at delivery
Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics Apr 16, 2018
Sundheimer LW, et al. - Researchers sought to assess if fertility treatments affect ratio of fetal weight to placenta size in humans. They performed a retrospective study of two cohorts: (a) early gestation cohort (2,170 patients), women with singleton pregnancies who underwent first trimester vaginal ultrasound and (b) delivered cohort (1,443 patients), women who delivered a live-born, singleton infant with placenta disposition to pathology. As per outcomes, mode of conception appeared not influencing fetal growth-to-placental weight ratios throughout gestation.
