Mobile phone text messaging improves antihypertensive drug adherence in the community

Varleta P, et al. - This study assessed the impact of receiving short message system (SMS) related to antihypertensive drug adherence (ADA) and healthy lifestyle on the medication adherence among hypertensives. Six-month follow-up outcomes revealed that text messaging resulted in an increase in reporting ADA in hypertensive Latino population. Overall, education through mobile phone SMS text messaging could help overcome poor medication adherence in the community in an effective manner.
